The Vatican Launch Alma Mater In Rome

A press conference was held at the beautiful Sala Giulo Cesare (Julius Caesar Room), Palazzo Senatorio on November 10th to launch the album Music From The Vatican – Alma Mater which will be released on November 20th.


An audience of almost 100 press from all over the world attended the special launch which was hosted by Italian personality, Carlio Massarini. The Mayor of Rome gave a brief message before showing the short documentary "Making The Masterpiece" which gave the audience an insight into the inspiration and creation of the album which features the voice of Pope Benedict XVI.


Attendees then moved across the piazza to the stunning Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli were they were treated to a stunning performance of key compositions from the album which included the beautiful "Regina Coeli" ("Queen of Heaven"), sung by the Vatican Choir and led by Monsignor Pablo Colino. UMG employees and guests then enjoyed an intimate drinks reception held on the roof terrace at the nearby Museum of Rome. RThe release is a true event, marking the very first time that the Voice of Pope Benedict XVI has been captured on disc, speaking and singing in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German.
